Amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has issued an important security alert for all U.S. citizens in the region. Here’s what you need to know to stay safe and plan your travel accordingly.
Shelter in Place & Emergency Passport ServicesAll U.S. government employees and families are instructed to shelter in place until further notice. The embassy will offer limited emergency passport services in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv from June 24 to June 26. Walk-ins accepted before 8:30 AM; no appointment needed.
Departure Options & Travel Guidance
Ben Gurion Airport is operating with limited flights. Book the earliest available seat.
Land crossings to Jordan and Egypt are open but expect long waits and possible delays.
Third-party services may assist in overland or sea departures, but use caution and verify providers.

Border Crossing Details:
Allenby/King Hussein Bridge (Jordan): Open 8:00–14:30 (for Palestinian Authority ID holders).

Egypt Taba Crossing: Open 24 hours; visa and taxes apply.
