For security reasons the embassy will not allow entrance with any electronic devices, including *phones* and smart watches; bags, briefcases, or backpacks (with the exception of a diaper bag); weapons of any kind; fire-lighting equipment; liquids, sprays, powders, or lip balm. If you bring a water bottle you may be asked to sip it.

For applications that are complete and straightforward, emergency passports are usually available for pickup the day after they are approved. Pickup times are between 2:00pm–2:30pm at U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and 2:15-2:45pm at Branch Office Tel Aviv.
(You don't have to go back to pick up your passport the very next day. You can go later that week. In addition, at your appointment you can sign a consent form with a specific name to allow a friend or family member pick up your passport for you.)
The US Embassy strongly encourages you to exchange your limited-validity emergency passport for a new, full-validity passport as soon as possible. If you do so within one year of the issuance of the emergency passport, you will not be charged another passport application fee.
Good luck with your appointment! I’m here to help with any questions you may have.
